Why don’t you learn a USEFUL language?
That’s for you to decide.
You want to learn a language.
You choose one.
People tell you it’s not useful.
Why not learn this language for this reason? Or that language for that reason?
They’ll rhyme off stats and facts in their minds.
Why not learn French since you’re from Canada?
You know what’s a great language to learn? Mandarin. China’s taking over the future.
Spanish will open you up to a whole continent, go for that one!
I’ve heard it all.
But guess what – all languages are useful.
Also, like most things in life (arguably everything), it doesn’t matter what other people think.
All languages are useful.
When you approach language learning as a subject, rather than an interest (dare I say, a hobby), then you won’t get very far in your learning.
Because you view it as a task, rather than a desire.
If language learning is approached with true, personal intention, it makes it that much easier to learn the concepts and arrive at the fluency you desire.
The “utility” of the language is for you to decide.
Maybe you’ve become inspire to learn a specific language because it simply sounds nice to you.
Go for it.
The desire is all that matters.
The word “utility” makes it a task. Tasks are tedious. Tasks are often not enjoyable.
You need to enjoy the process.
So you arrive, beyond content, at the destination.
Wherever that is, however you set it.
